HOGS & PIGS

WARTHOG

Probably the most beloved and most frequent animal seen while on safari, the Warthog is a must hunt species. Male hogs have 4 facial warts which helps distinguish them from the females who only have 2 warts but also sport tusks. We have some very large "warties" on the concession and satellite camps for the nomadic hogs as well. Only one pig or hog is required for SCI's Archery Animals of Africa Milestone.

BUSH PIG

Tom Miranda calls the bush pig "Prize of the veld". Bush pig hunting is very exciting and usually done at night over a dimly lit bait. Bush pigs and very shy and incredible smart. They can be a serious challenge to hunt. Bush Pig hunts are known as a Poor Mans Leopard Hunt"... as when things go correctly they are very very exciting. Difficult Hunt... but so worth it!

Since the Hogs & Pigs Category only include Warthog and Bush Pig, so we will add a few more species that can also be hunted on our concession.

GIRAFFE

Despite public opinion, Giraffe need managed loke all other wildlife. and if it wasn't for private land owners and National Parks, Giraffe may very well be endangered by now. There are 9 sub-species of Giraffe in Africa and we have several very nice herds on the concession.

OSTRICH

These birds are an interesting watch at the waterhole. Their leather is prized in the making of leather boots, purses and accessories. Defiantly a novelty!

JACKAL

Black Backed Jackals are seen at the water holes from time to time and a welcome target.

BABOON

Another species that peak some hunters interest is the Baboon. These primates are pests in any concession and can be not only intimidating to a hunter while on stand, but difficult to take with archery tackle.
